Walter Saves the Day!!

Squeeee!! It's officially time to unveil the Walter the chevron guy saves the day stories and even though we only got one story, it is an absolute gem of a story. Go read it now! I promise you will be glad you did and will come away with a smile. So what are you waiting for. Go. Now!! :)

And don't forget to leave lots of love for the author while you're at it.

You still have some time to post your own story if you've started one but didn't have enough time to finish it. You have until the end of the month to post it here, at which time we'll be posting a brand new prompt. In the meantime, show us your interpretation of Walter's special day. We'd love to read it!

Looking for some Walter fics!

Hey there! Just checking in to let you all know the deadline for submitting a story for this round is coming up in two weeks!! Have you written anything about one of our favorite minor character yet?

No?

Well let's get to it! "Walter the chevron guy saves the day." And he's done it in a small, inconspicuous way. Or maybe in a grand way - and nobody notices. Or even... okay, I confess. I'd love to see him interacting with Ba'al's hologram while they wait for General Jack to show up. Hee! That would be a great fic in of itself!!! :) Ah, if only I had the time...

Well??? Come on. Let's give Walter some love and write a story that's all about him. Give us your best shot!

And I'd love to hear if you are writing a story for this round. Sound off if you are and feel free to cheer or encourage others on! We need some fic to read by the firelight.

Chevron technicians are awesome in their own right. Let's show the world what they can do!!

Walter is looking lonely over there by himself...

Well it's been a month, and I thought I would come and check to see if you all are working on a fic for us. I really hope so!!!

The latest prompt is, "Walter the chevron guy saves the day." and there's so much potential for poor Walter.

He likes his job, at least it seemed that way when he was talking to the reporter in "Heroes". And we all know he's smart - as well as slightly ahead of the game when it comes to anticipating General Jack's wants. :) He's an all-around great guy who is muchly under-appreciated by fandom, so this time around we're going to give him his due.

Right??

*tries to hear the cheers over the really loud crickets*

Anyway, I'm curious. Are you planning to write a story for this round? It would be great if you could, and please do leave a comment to let us know!

NEW PROMPT: Unsung Heroes

Okay, so I'm a little late with this one, but I think that we can still come up with lots of fantastic fics for this round. Right? In fact, I thought it would be a good time to focus our thoughts on the unsung heroes that help support our favorite people in Stargate! With that in mind, I've chosen a prompt from our list that is right up our alley:

Walter the chevron guy saves the day.

What do you think? Can you come up with something for Walter? Remember, it can be crack!fic, serious, adventure or even all in his own mind. lol Don't forget, it can also be a crossover, so whatever you come up with will be great!! And I'm anxious now to read all about the adventures of Walter the Chevron guy!!

Please post your story/intro to story in this post. All comments are screened until reveal day, December 1st. As always, if you were the one who suggested this prompt, you may comment to this post to identify yourself. Your comment will be unscreened along with the stories. You are also welcome to remain anonymous if you prefer.

There is no theme or challenge for this cycle of stories. Go wherever the prompt takes you as long as it’s an SG-1 story.

A few reminders:

* An overview of the rules can be found at the Front Page.

* Guidelines for posting your story are here.

* Questions? Ask here.

* Even if you post your story in its entirety in the comments to this post, you are encouraged to post it to your personal journal too—just be sure to keep it private until the day of reveal.

Dates to know:

October 1: Prompt revealed

November 31: Primary deadline for story submissions

December 1: Comments (stories) unscreened

December 5: I will create a new post consisting of an index with links to each story. If you want your story to be included in this index, it must be submitted by that date. Stories may be submitted after December 5 and I will do my best to update the index, but please remember that late additions might not be added to the index.

Happy writing!

Summer Extravaganza unscreened

I have unscreened post for this quarter's stories. You are now free to read and enjoy what has been posted.

In the meantime, if you, like me, have something that you haven't quite finished, please don't be deterred from continuing. Personally, I hoping to have something finished over the course of the upcoming holiday weekend. I'll be doing a roundup later in the month to highlight everything that has been done. So to sum up:

1. Read and enjoy.

2. If you have something to finish up (or even start and then finish up), go ahead and do that. We'll still be here and we'll still love to read what you've got, even if it's a little late.

One more week!!

Bad mod is being very bad. This is one of those times when I need suzannemarie's flogging icon. Eep! I need to get back into the swing of things again.

Actually, I think the more accurate phrase is that I was "slacking" in my mod duties, but I'm here now to let you all know that we only have one more week until the reveal date for this round of prompts. One more week to get everything written and squared away, and oh I am so hoping for lots of fics. Have you written any yet? Are you writing for us? Come on and join in on the fun! We have lots of prompts to choose from this time around, all from past rounds. So dust off those WIPs you have that sprang from these prompts and submit them as comments over here.

What are you waiting for? August 31st will be here before you know it!

And just as a reminder, here are the prompts you can work with this round:

* Racing the Clock

* Well? Can you fix it?

* Sometimes I think to myself "This is it...This is going to be the day we have a nice, sane, boring mission."

* Breathe

* Catastrophe

* That's the last of the coffee

* Cabin Fever

* I think we made a big mistake

We had some great stories the first time these prompts were offered. I hope we can get a ton more!

good heavens, time flies

I was going to be so much better about posting reminders. A summer resolution, if you will. However, summer has flown by and here we are approaching the middle of August with my first reminder that there are story opportunities in play.

For the summer we decided to do something special and have released a reprise of all the prompts that have been used so far--a total of eight. You can do a story for one, a story for each, or any number in between. Or, you know, a bunch of stories for a single prompt. Whatever your hearts desire. But we'd like to see the stories done by September 1.

Wondering what the heck I'm babbling about? Here's the post with the list of prompts and the procedure for posting the finished product.

Questions? Feel free to ask them here.

Summer Extravaganza

Hi Everybody!

It's time for a new quarterly prompt here at One_Prompt. I thought that just for summer, we'd shake things up a little bit. Was there an earlier prompt that you were working on that just never quite came together for you? Are you wishing that you had come up with something from a past prompt and sad that you missed your chance? Did you write one story for a prompt, have a great idea for a second story and run out of time?

Well, be sad no more! For summer, we're going to rewind and play a round of prompt catch up. We've done eight prompts so far with varying levels of participation. For fun, I thought we'd put all eight previous prompts into play and let you have at them. The really ambitious among you can write a story for each prompt. Or the really, really clever can come up with one story that somehow incorporates each of the prompts. Or, you know, you can just choose the prompt that speaks to you and write to that one. :)

In original order of appearance, here are the prompts:

*Racing the Clock

*Well? Can you fix it?

*Sometimes I think to myself "This is it...This is going to be the day we have a nice, sane, boring mission."

*Breathe

*Catastrophe

*That's the last of the coffee

*Cabin Fever

*I think we made a big mistake

*Do you have prompts to suggest? Post them here.
